Marriage and Family

To the Man who has been There for me Happy Father's Day

June 20, 2021

they say to find a great man to marry and have in life is a treasure to keep forever is real with you. it bothers you to read this because knowing our very imperfect relationship, it is still a miracle that we are together. you have endured so much to keep our family afloat and together from being our provider to our constant cheerleader behind the scenes as we create content for our followers. you have supported us in ways you can and ways you know will matter to us. you have showered us with your constant reminders and always showed us the true meaning of the word happiness. being married to you is yet another milestone that i will cherish and be proud of till this day but there is nothing more special than that feeling of having you as our daddy. you are the father of our two little angels and know that you are our greatest support and protector. thank you for always showing us what and how it truly feels to be cared for and loved immensely with no bounds. your efforts to bring food on our table and make sure that we live our best lives is our greatest blessing! thank you for all that you do for us, Pa! Your kids wish you the happiest Father's Day today. You are doing a great job! WE LOVE YOU

Happy Weekends!

June 27, 2016

Hi friends! How's the going?I hope you got an awesome Monday. Last weekend with the family, we get to spend a little more time and I am really happy with it. Our Ameila has been growing fast. So i took a picture of her with this fabric that I got. I love the design and I thought of taking a picture of her on it. The husband was away on Saturday the whole day since he was out for OT. Washing clothes. Doing the laundry. Cleaning the house. On Sunday, they get to bond with Adi and I watched The Huntsman Winters war. Guess what? I loved the cinematography and the story too.
That's the photo. Not bad. With good lighting and a smartphone I can already take well decent pictures.  Hashtag HappyDance! I immediately uploaded the same on my instagram account. With the hashtags

Natural Living: Surviving Summer the Natural Way

April 17, 2016

I know how you feel mommies. Really we are going through one of the most hottest days ever. Literally, it is like boiling water hot these days from where I live. Just Last March 12, I collapsed when I tried to balance myself from getting tripped off.

It was also very humid that day that when Adi and I went from buying some grocery items for our little sari sari store, i fell down as in like plunking down. My whole body crashed on the ground like a sack of rice. It went like that mom jumped off from her seat and papa to help me. I didn't know what happened. The last thing on my mind was oh God I am going to fall down now and I cant stop it.

the proof:
The aftermath: Wounds all over. Thanks to the Aloe Vera my wounds are now completely healed.
Here are some things you can do during these days.
1. Plant. and water them. Useful water can be waste water from your laundry. They serve as supplement to plants like Banana and Kangkong which are very water dependent. Aside that theses plants provide food, they provide oxygen. Start planting a garden will save you time from going to the market and money.
2. Wash your dishes outside. It is simple, used water from washing your dishes and kitchen wares can be used for sprinkling on your front yard or back yard too. Get the land hydrated. To keep water from circulating.
3. Look ridiculous and wear sunglasses while doing the laundry. PROTECT your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun or do the laundry while its not too sunny. I do my laundry in the afternoon, just when the sunshine is at its low point at about 4 or 5 pm.
That's about it. Don't forget to stay hydrated and when it's sunny better take shade, lucky us there are trees and cool fresh air from the yard.
But still, we take precautions. The hard part of the days are when we can't go out to buy food, so when the afternoon strikes we hoard and buy at the nearby market. It's also good to eat healthy and maintain it.
Start wearing loose pieces of clothes are a great help too.
Climate change is real guys. Stay educated and ready against the summer heat.
Conserve Energy and WATER!

3 Things: The "then" Working Nanay that was Me

March 27, 2016

Happy Easter All! It's been ridiculously 3 months since I left my day job. And boy oh boy I miss the things I loved at work.

my work station. i miss the pics on my shelf too
First off, you might be wondering about why these 3-thingy, I'd like to showcase a list of three things I find amusing, useful or memorable for the week, day or anytime of my freaking awesome life (just kidding) but yeah, 3 things to remember maybe on this blog. So, off the sail I go and start with this random shots from work.

I've said this over and over that it is been my decision to leave my job and be a stay-at-home mom or maybe in a couple of months be a work-at-home mom, but one can't deny the perks of working in an office aside from the comfy chairs and cool aircon (hehe)

I really love to dress up and put on makeup. So there, I miss my (1.) freaking lipsticks! and maybe my cubicle but really they are the lipsticks in there girl. I know!(I don't know where they are now since this photo was taken like over a year ago). If you are a working mom like me who spends most time in front of a PC, it's my way of bringing life to my pale look. so hashtag lipstick, hashtag LOTD (lipstick of the day) was my thing way back then. lol! I guess, it was my weapon of confidence that I only stopped putting it on when I had my second baby.

i love this scarves to death. i got them at a thrift store here in Cebu

I suddenly miss wearing scarves, of course I can't wear (2.) scarves at home. It's a tropical country and most of the time it's 36 to 39 degrees Celsius from where I live. So, slash the scarves. I remember they were my sort of armor against the cold Conference Rooms, Training Rooms or whatever-rooms include the whatever-corporate situations you find me in. They are there. but not most of the time. Aside that they are comfort, they are a statement. I never knew dressing up was my thing before. I just was simply influenced but I miss wearing them on.

the coffee by the boss. some perks from working

Working is never complete without a shot of hot or cold (3.) Coffee, it just perks you up.

There are a lot of things to miss especially the trainings from which  I can only get from my very awesome day job. I have the best boss and job which I really love I just don't miss these things though: office politics, the toxic co-workers, tight deadlines and missed accuracy or call-outs.

There is always a bad in the good and good in the bad. We just have to learn to live the hell out of it to just SURVIVE. There are a lot of realizations yes. I guess I'll have another chance to do that in my next 3-things-post.

My God Speaks to Me: Why I should read the Bible

October 23, 2014

Mommies!
photo taken during my stay at Creekside Hotel in Makati

This is my new series here in Yo Momma. God Speaks to me.
I have been living on Earth for already 28 years to be exact, and I am raised by Catholic Parents.
Being in Cebu my whole life has been a blessing, I would like to call it.

Cebuanos are very religious people.
We go to church on Sundays, and celebrate fiestas of our Patron Saints. Evident in those is the Sinulog,
the grandest festival in the Philippines.

Being a Cebuano always reflects being a good Christian , following Christ teachings and being able to show it to others. Being able to share it with the rest of the world.

As a working mom, I often feel the need to hear God's words. I feel the need to reflect and heed his purpose for me. I am not a perfect person. If I tell you all the mistakes I have committed, It would sure take up most of your time reading and perhaps doing it on another blog.

When we seek to enjoy communion with the Lord — and not to be led astray by the ambiguities of religious experience — we read the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, God’s words and God’s deeds reveal God himself for our knowledge and our enjoyment. Of course, it is possible to read the Bible without enjoying communion with God. We must seek to understand the Bible’s meaning, and we must pause to contemplate what we understand and, by the Spirit, to feel and express the appropriate response of the heart.
God communicates with us in many ways through the Bible and seeks the response of our communion with him.
  • If God indicts us (2 Cor. 7:8–10), we respond to him with sorrow and repentance.
  • If he commends us (Ps. 18:19–20), we respond to him with humble gratitude and joy.
  • If he commands us to do something (Matt. 28:19–20), we look to him for strength and resolve to obey with his help.
  • If he makes a promise (Heb. 13:5–6), we marvel at his grace and trust him to do what he says.
  • If he warns us of some danger (Luke 21:34), we take him seriously and watch with a thankful sense of his presence and protection.
  • If he describes something about himself (Isa. 46:9–11), his Son (Mark 1:11), or his Holy Spirit (John 16:13–14), we affirm it and admire it and pray for clearer eyes to see and enjoy his greatness and beauty.2
Reading the Bible from cover to cover in 2013 is a noble goal. And it’s a goal that positions us well to commune with God. Keep communion as your aim, and remember the words of Scripture are there for us to know God’s heart, to commune with the Living Christ, and to respond appropriately to his beauty and to his voice.
Bible reading is meant to deepen our personal relationship with Christ. http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/why-we-read-the-bible

Has God spoken to you today? Tell me your thoughts.

Stay Blessed mommsies!

Nesting for the Family

May 19, 2014

It's here.
I am finally blogging about the dream.
A dream of having my own home. with the family. with my family to be.

Allen and I had Adi two years ago. We were not married.
And we had our fair share of struggles. But we have overcome those challenges. Our love against the odds.

having a home, where we can call our own is our dream. every new family's dream.
We are now one of them. I have grown in not so well off family here in the Philippines.

We had a simple house but the lot was not ours. We rented for it. For 27 years now. same age as me.
We rented it for PHP300 pesos a month.

Well, to cut the story short, Allen and I decided to acquire a Lot near our place. In Consolacion, Cebu.
It is still under development and it's cheaper now compared to buying a furnished house and lot.

We cannot afford one so we opted for a lot. a 100-sq m lot.
payable for 5 years.

I mean it is but a great deal. i payed for the reservation and the equity. I am glad that Allen helped me out as well.

We may have meager ways of living but this will be our long term goal.
We are on our Sixth month and it'll be four years and six months more to go before we can finally call the Lot our own.

We are excited and we will do everything we can to reach that goal.

Crossing my fingers!
To God be the Glory.

P.S.

I was lucky enough to know a very good broker.
You can avail of their service as well here.

Dear Me: Letter to the 16 year old Me

May 4, 2014

If you had the opportunity to write to your 16-year-old self, what would you say?

Dear 16 year old Gracina,

I know what you are thinking right at this very moment.
Hmm... I don't even know what to say to you anymore
since you're thinking that you know everything already.

Yes, you are at the Senior year of your highschool life.. yet you are still so
full of dreams and aspirations for the future yet to come.
Well hey! Don't you worry for I have seen the future!
I am here. Smiling as I look over you.

High school life is never easy.
But holds a vital part of your life as you grow and become what you
ought to be...

Thinking about college and the trailing battles ahead is overwhelming.
Don't think too hard!
Think happy thoughts.
Your journal says it all. ^-^

How much you like to take unto having relationships.
Don't rush.
But think about the joy of having to wait for Mr. Right.

What you think about life is not the way it will turn out.
Your heart is vulnerable and not everyone will like you.

Always remember that everyone is gonna hurt you.
You just have to know who is worth all the pain.

Follow your heart and let it guide you.
Trust in the Lord, He will provide and lift you up.

Being a good daughter comes with all sacrifices.
Be the best and never ever give up.

Be the strong person that you should be,
cause everyone is going to depend and look up to you.

Be the greatest big sister that your siblings are going to have.
Although, when you fall be sure to always Learn and Discern.

Love yourself.

As much as i love you.

P.S - just wait till you see your adorable cute lil son's dimples!

Always and forever,

28 year old (chubby face) self - Gracina

Becoming Active

April 30, 2014

It is here... the time has come for me and my son to once again explore this crazy world of ours!

Being a working momma for me is very EXCITING and CHALLENGING at the same time.

Exciting in a way that I get to catch every single moment of Baby Adi's growin up moments.
Well, here is me wishing on a STAR.

I know for sure that I will never ever have that moment,

( not until I quit my 9.6 hours day job)

Well Baby, momma's not gonna give up yet!

So to more challenges with you, cheers!

More moments to capture and more determination to store....

getting giddy up every morning strollin with
his pretty equally adorable cousin Therese =)
ans just when you thought that you can keep up..
Climbing on the table when I was watching a TV program.
Ang Kulit!!!

Son, there will always be memories like this in my heart.

In my mind and in my tired bod... It's quite tiring to try to keep you behaved and tamed.

But that is just what you are - a pretty little hyper active baby boy indeed!

Thanks for showing me the strength and perseverance i never knew i had in me.

Love lots,

Mami

#HolyWeek2014

April 23, 2014

Hi Mommsies!!!

How was your holy week!
As for our family, we spent the rest of the week in our house in Mandaue City here in Cebu.

I spent time with my son, had chit chats with my mom, sister and aunt Cora.
I guess that should be the most treasured moment of my work life since I get to spend the long weekend with them.

Have you noticed that most of the people are dying to go out and soak on the water? I have read a lot of vacay posts lately be it on instagram, fellow bloggers and some of my "wealthy" facebook friends.

Well, good for them -- they get to spend it splunging on the water. I can't question that action since as you may know, it is SUMMER indeed now in the Philippine Islands.

What can I say? Right?

It is Super Duper HOT!!

The sun is up all the while and I, my partner A and Adi stayed just at our little nest.

Here's what I posted via IG:

Adi with Aunt Cora and Uncle Andres having lunch.. =)

I was still thankful that even if I wasn't able to attend mass and confession, I was able to reflect.
Here's what the Lord is telling me as I read His Words from the Bible: (the Book of Ecclesiastes)

2:17 So I hated life, because the work that is worked under the sun was grievous to me; for all is vanity and a chasing after wind. 2:18 I hated all my labor in which I labored under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who comes after me. 2:19 Who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have rule over all of my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.
2:20 Therefore I began to cause my heart to despair concerning all the labor in which I had labored under the sun. 2:21 For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, with knowledge, and with skillfulness; yet he shall leave it for his portion to a man who has not labored for it. This also is vanity and a great evil. 2:22 For what has a man of all his labor, and of the striving of his heart, in which he labors under the sun? 2:23 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail is grief; yes, even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also is vanity. 2:24 There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it is from the hand of God. 2:25 For who can eat, or who can have enjoyment, more than I? 2:26 For to the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him who pleases God. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.
5:1 Guard your steps when you go to God’s house; for to draw near to listen is better than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they don’t know that they do evil. 5:2 Don’t be rash with your mouth, and don’t let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and you on earth. Therefore let your words be few. 5:3 For as a dream comes with a multitude of cares, so a fool’s speech with a multitude of words. 5:4 When you vow a vow to God, don’t defer to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay that which you vow. 5:5 It is better that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay. 5:6 Don’t allow your mouth to lead you into sin. Don’t protest before the messenger that this was a mistake. Why should God be angry at your voice, and destroy the work of your hands? 5:7 For in the multitude of dreams there are vanities, as well as in many words: but you must fear God.
5:8 If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, don’t marvel at the matter: for one official is eyed by a higher one; and there are officials over them. 5:9 Moreover the profit of the earth is for all. The king profits from the field.5:10 He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase: this also is vanity. 5:11 When goods increase, those who eat them are increased; and what advantage is there to its owner, except to feast on them with his eyes?
5:12 The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eats little or much; but the abundance of the rich will not allow him to sleep.

Thanks for reading!
And God Bless us always!
Hope you too had a way better Holy Week =)

That Strong Earthquake!

October 17, 2013

Last Monday Tuesday, at exactly 8.12 in the morning, we felt a strong quake shaking from beneath us.
I was with my son, Adi and fiance A outside our little hut in Mandaue when the grounds shook.

At first, I thought my neighbor's son, PJ just shook off our clothesline. It was swinging back and fourth.
then I heard my cousin Ate Lai shouting, the ground was trembling and a sound could be heared from beneath.

It was a morning I could never forget. I was shouting back at Adi and held him closely to me. While we were sitting feeling the earth tremble!

I couldn't believe it was happening but I kept my mind in complete control. I never panicked.
All I was thinking was for my dear neighbors and my family to be safe and could get out of this alive!
I was hearing my uncle shouting 'HOO!!' a tradition to keep the earthquake away.
I can see my mom covering her head and closing her eyes. She was in great fear.

After about 8 minutes or so, the shaking stopped.

I was relieved, I checked out everyone. I was glad we we're all okay.
Except for that little crack on the wall in our sala. Baby Adi was crying, and I was glad I was there to comfort him. It was a holiday and we were all at home.

Thank God! It was a holiday if it were not, I couldn't imagine how everything could have been.

Whew! What a Saturday!

September 21, 2013

Good night guys!!!!

How was your Saturday? Saturdates or Just like me staying at home for the whole day except for kanina where I spent time going outside to buy formula milk for Adi. You know, so far I am enjoying my mommy moments with son but this time around it's different. Sobra akong pagod. Nanay is not around kasi to make bantay Adi and help me out. Pero buti na rin at least I can manage to do things on my own and not depend on her for everything.

Adi has already turned 1 year and today he is already a month ahead of 1st year. My, kakapagod mag-alaga ng bata (toddler) who is already learning how to walk on his own. Yes, you are right, He now manages to walk on his own.

Baka pag may time I'll post some pictures of him walking outside our house. As in grabe, kahit anong bagay na makita kukuhanin niya. Stressful talaga. Ngarag ang show ko. But worth it pa rin!

Sinusulit ko ang time with baby. Yan talaga ang buhay pag working mommy. Bawi bawi din pag may time. =)

Fiance A, works overtime kasi on weekends that is why it is really a tough and challenging day for me.
But i still feel accomplished. At least naka pag laba pa ko. Was able to wash our pillow cases and blankets while baby's taking a nap.

Whew talaga! this Saturday is the best so far..... na test talaga ang super mom powers ko!
happy na rin coz bawi bawi din c fiance bukas. Family date and i'm excited makakalabas na rin.. at gala galore!

=)

have a great night guys! tomorrow I'll post our gala gala-pag-may-time photos.

Thanks for reading. God Bless!

My New Pair of Eyeglasses

July 19, 2012

Finally got myself a new pair of glasses for the third time. I was really bragging about my eyes for a few weeks already. My eyes are going nuts and I cannot fully concentrate facing the computer at the office for hours. So, finally I decided to go get one at Ideal Vision Center at SM Cebu.

I was examined and the Doctor found out my eyes grade already went up a notch.
I always loved the glasses from Ideal Vision as well so that was my second time to head down there for an eye check-up. Glad to know they have this sale of up to 50% for the frames!

I was ecstatic, this is it! I'm going to get one now!
The frame I got was perfect fit and the glasses was as well. My eyes seemed refreshed every time I wear them. Plus, I only bought it for PHP2300.00. Our company insurance will have to reimburse us with it naman so no worries. I can avail up to PHP1500.00 for my medical plan.

So, that was it. Just ranting about my new pair of glasses! Which I really adore.
Do love and take good care of your eyes guys!

Till then,

This is Us against the Odds (Pag-ibig na Pangmatagalan)

July 16, 2012

Life has all its twists and turns and sure to attest to that is the trials we encounter in each of our relationships especially with our beloved someone, I had my own fare share and though ours was definitely not perfect we managed to get through the lowest parts of time that we were together the things and problems we get through with having each other.

US during our first month together

The story begun last 2011, when I had just resigned from my full time job to venture other seas looking for greater opportunities but turns out to be a failure and a waste of time and money on my part and his as well, that time I moved from our house to live alone as a boarder in Colon, Cebu. I wasn’t able to cope up with my new job then due to the working schedule (graveyard it is) that easily my immune system had dropped.

Worst part is, a few weeks after I returned home after my resignation since my body was badly affected, he also lost his job. He was a project-based employee and under an agency based in Makati. It was hard. Definitely being both the eldest in each of our families.
The usual hangouts and dates, movies, dinner were put off and set aside and we would find ourselves staying just about at home at texting each other. Priorities changed. Fun was still there since we had each other through it all. I opted to make money out of my last pay and turned a little online business alive. I found myself selling pre-owned items on the internet specifically through my facebook account you can also view my post of my online venture here.

While we were busy looking for full time jobs, we busied ourselves roaming around Ukay Ukay Shops in town. He was with me all the way though he had to travel a 30 minute ride from Parian Cebu to our home in Mandaue, Cebu. I enjoyed myself knowing I could still make money online. We would wash the Ukay Ukay items (pre-owned blouses and Clothes) before we sold them to our customers. I made sure it smells good and ready to use upon purchase during my meet-ups with prospect customers. We were glad that Tide came handy for us with Downy we achieved a better smelling product ready to be sold. Now, even more than that here comes for us the Tide with Downy product with which we could greatly use for our pre-owned clothes business.

Right then and there, my money quickly slept away since I had to send two siblings to a state college and had to provide for their daily allowances. The search for that coveted full time job continued for the both of us. Then, I eventually got hired by an American Company based here in Cebu. I was excited, we were excited and he was there always ready to support after almost two months of being jobless finally I now have a job. though he was still - searching.

Since the day came to us, I was endorsed for Physical Exam as a job requirement. At first, I was in doubt to take the X Ray examination. Yeah, I doubt I was pregnant since I haven't had my monthly visit since November. Come December, still no signs. I told him I had to test just to confirm if I really was expecting.

At 3 am that next day, I woke up with the kit in my hand and quickly did the pregnancy test. Surprised!

It showed - two lines! Which means, we were having a baby. I was two months pregnant already. I called him and when he found about it, he had to digest everything it was clear in his voice, he was not ready but his love for me and my baby won every fear he had. He had no job yet. It was like, what-are-we-going-to-do state for us. Mixed emotions.

The set up we had isn't easy at all. He had to come every night to visit me at home while I work full time. By February, he got hired. We were happy and finally he was too. Relieved that now he can raise us his family-to-be. We had troubled days, crying nights, those arguments along my pregnancy, that adjustment stage seemed unbearable for the both of us. We were expecting a baby out of wed luck and it wasn't easy for me and him as well. We couldn't live together due to these circumstances. Came Friday night, he would stay at home with me and sleep at home just so we could bond as I was pregnant. Every Saturday morning, he would help me with my Laundry. He would eagerly help me especially with the bedsheets, those huge bedsheets, I know I couldn't lift them with the baby bump plus the additional weight it had on me. Our typical weekend together having fun doing the laundry.

Now, I am on my due. About to deliver our sweet little baby boy coming end of July or first week of August. I can say that amidst all the things we were in, we stayed stronger and forever grateful that the Lord God hasn't left us without nothing. He was our guidance and that sweet little angel as our inspiration to go along.

 Till then,

it hurt sometimes

July 6, 2012

Pardon me about this very emotional post.

You know we all deal with some personal issues each of our lives. And I know for a fact that I myself is never an exemption. I have always dreaded having that prosperous life with my family that even lead me to pursue my goals each and every single day.
As the eldest, I know I should be the breadwinner next to my parents who are now by the way aged 57 and 55. Who happens to have already quit each of their jobs and is now focused on part time endeavors.
My Mom is a dressmaker and is working at home. My Dad (tatay) is doing part time jobs as a carpenter working for long hours and driving his bike all the way from Alang-Alang to Liloan (where he works) to earn just a little bit of money to support us.
Sometimes it hurts me to see them struggle. Sometimes I don’t get it why we have to be experiencing all this when some are enjoying the (good life) as they say it.
I have been supporting them since 2008, when my Father lost his job of over 15 plus years in a furniture company when the recession came. Well, we could never really tell what is going to happen. So I managed myself to get a job and forgot about pursuing my review for the Engineering Board Exam. A thing I wish I did even so before (im sorry tay, I failed you) always keep bumming in my head even to these days.
Sometimes it hurts me to be in a company of people who even cannot relate to what I am going through. Who even think of it as a mere poor thing (Looy), pathetic, to the point that I sometimes tend to hate and blame my parents for everything forgetting all the things they did for me.
Sometimes I wish I chose the hardest path to take so when I reach the end I will taste my sweet success and share it with them my parents.
I know Nay, Tay that I am not a perfect daughter. I always have that tendency to argue and question both of you.
Sometimes it hurts me to see both of you hurt. But always rememeber this (itaga nyo sa bato!) - I will never ever give up on this! I will fight for our family even if I know soon you’ll be having your cute apo (grandson). I hope he grows up to be a strong man unlike me. I hope he grows up to help and make his grandma and grandpa happy much more than what they deserve.
Sometimes it hurts to see the ones you love the most get hurt.
Soon I will be a mom. And soon I will be experiencing all this as I raise my future son Nicqo.
Nay , Tay I hope you forgive me for all these.
I love you both so much and Boryong, Shiela and Gabriel.

My ADopted baby....(",)
