To my fellow moms in Cebu, allow me to share this experience once again ( I know that this post is a bit late ) hope this would help you on your search.

My 2017 Goals

January 31, 2017

Last year, I wasn't really able to make some posts for my year 2016. A year has passed, and I could really say that I have gone tougher and stronger.

With 2016 a very trying time for me as a mom and as a wife - a homemaker to a small starting and growing family was like diving into deep water without having to know how to swim. That was how my 2016 last year started.

Those trying moments, I held on to my mom my dad and also my husband. I could not make it alive without them seriously!

I looked up to the sky too! Thinking what the hell have I gone myself into? It was a drastic moment, so this year if ever I will be given the chance, I would like to make small adjustments to my goals and strokes for motivations. I commit myself to growing more cautious on the food that I eat things that I prepare for my kids and family. This year, I commit to a healthy lifestyle most especially that my husband has been recently diagnosed with hypertension. One that is at the verge already so I am practically looking for ways to motivate him too for lifestyle changes. Hopefully, he gets  the drill and then lower his chances of other diseases accompanied by it.

Also this year, our country, the Philippines hosted the ever beautiful Miss Universe and Miss France, Iris Mittinaere won! Yay! She was my bet. Here is some of the quotes from Miss Australia who also happens to have the same definition for success as mine. 😁😁

The first month of 2017 is a very trying time again for us. It's like the things that happened from last year has some small aftershocks on this month to us.

But hopefully, with the loving grace of God, we can still make it. One thing that I want to focus also for this year aside from health is to focus more on moving. Going around some more with the kids and spending moments with them more. Maybe by February we can do that? Who knows.

There are a lot of things that I want to achieve this year aside from living a healthy lifestyle, I would liek to switch my travel mode on and spend some time with my kids outdoors. Also, in the plans are growing this blog of mine. It's been 8 years but I still have not reached my goal for this blog so I commit to that this year.

How about you? What are your goals for this year of the Fire Rooster?

Let me know in the comments below.

Stay fab!

What 2016 has taught me

January 1, 2017

2016 has finally come to an end and as far as I can remember it was a year full of challenges and battles won. I never imagined how transformed I am now because of the choices I made in 2015. And that is to be a full-time mother. Leaving my day job and learning to focus on my top priority for life is one of the toughest decisions of my life. Although I am a mom to Adi I never realized how demanding it was to be a mom of two expecting to do all things on my own. But, to be honest, no words can explain what I went through.

I learned to manage my time well and focused on the important things in life like preparing the meals and even to organizing the toys. Washing the laundry and breastfeeding Ami was the hardest of all. Without my parents' assistance and support I wouldn't have done it all.

The fruit of my labor. My kids and my small family. I learned that I cannot anymore go out on my own. I cannot anymore manage to go out of the house and run errands without somebody else's company or without my kids. I have become so attached to them that it seems they are already a part of my whole being.

I learned that when I decided to become a full time mom to them I have also decided to bid farewell to my old self. I learned to become more selfless. On the first 3 months of adjustment, I remember I was afraid to go out of the house to call Adi to come home because I was shy, I was afraid that I couldn't discipline him the right way. My parents would always scold me because I was not performing my duty. Of course, I was still preparing my mind that this is how it is going to be now. That I need to step up and be the mother that I am.

A year has passed, and I pat myself on my back because I have raised Ami by myself. Disciplined Adi by myself- he listens to me now whenever I scold him for doing something wrong. A year has passed with me purely breastfeeding Ami, learned to bathe her on my own two hands, clean her poop with my own hands. But whenever I feel like I need help I'm just forever grateful I got two able beings around me. My parents! Thank you Nay and Tay for shopping our food in the market whenever I feel so dizzy to go out.

Indeed 2016 was a life changing year for me. So many lessons learned and so many memories kept in my kind and heart forever. Thank you 2016 for a meaningful year. For teaching and empowering my nature as a mom and a homemaker.

I look forward to 2017 with head up high.

Happy New Year to us all!
Stay fab!

How it feels like to have a daughter

November 29, 2016

Yes! That is having a daughter. I have always wanted to have a baby girl whom I could deeply connect with. Someone that I could finally call my own. A girl that is a small version of me. My last chance at redeeming myself from my bad experiences before. A second chance at being pretty in all sorts of things. πŸ˜„ I never had a very much nice or what you call it worthy childhood as a girl. I never really enjoyed having all the nice dresses and barbie toys. I knew that being a little girl again is impossible and healing my dark past is all I wished for. But now having her is like having this chance of seeing and maybe building another tomorrow that is promising and secure.

Having a daughter was all I ever wanted. As much as I wanted to dress her up and buy cute little tiny things for her. Seeing her happy and fulfilled one day is all I ever long for.  I love my daughter because she reflects me somehow. I want her to achieve her dreams someday and that she would know that I was always there behind her, that she would know that I always got her back. She is a reflection of my infinite hopes and dreams. And I wanted her to make them all happen.

Having a daughter to me is like holding a treasure. A treasure that is so fragile that you would not want anyone or anything to get it broken. Having a daughter is like chasing sunsets, you'll never get enough of how amazing her smile is or is her laugh.

Having a daughter is having the best friend you always wanted to have. But for a lifetime. She is truly and indeed my one true friend. My best friend forever. BFF for life. I can't wait to see her grow up and just be there to guide her. See her achieve her dreams and enjoy what life has to offer that I wasn't able to see and I had no chance of experiencing.

To my dearest daughter,
As you grow older I want you to fly as free as a bird.
Go forth and pursue all your dreams.
Conquer the universe.
Live your life to the fullest and take chances.
Be confident in making them all come true. But in all these, never forget your worth.
and finally know how much we truly and deeply love you.
Mommy is just here. I love you baby girl.

Happy Weekends!

June 27, 2016

Hi friends! How's the going?I hope you got an awesome Monday. Last weekend with the family, we get to spend a little more time and I am really happy with it. Our Ameila has been growing fast. So i took a picture of her with this fabric that I got. I love the design and I thought of taking a picture of her on it. The husband was away on Saturday the whole day since he was out for OT. Washing clothes. Doing the laundry. Cleaning the house. On Sunday, they get to bond with Adi and I watched The Huntsman Winters war. Guess what? I loved the cinematography and the story too.
That's the photo. Not bad. With good lighting and a smartphone I can already take well decent pictures.  Hashtag HappyDance! I immediately uploaded the same on my instagram account. With the hashtags

Natural Living: Surviving Summer the Natural Way

April 17, 2016

I know how you feel mommies. Really we are going through one of the most hottest days ever. Literally, it is like boiling water hot these days from where I live. Just Last March 12, I collapsed when I tried to balance myself from getting tripped off.

It was also very humid that day that when Adi and I went from buying some grocery items for our little sari sari store, i fell down as in like plunking down. My whole body crashed on the ground like a sack of rice. It went like that mom jumped off from her seat and papa to help me. I didn't know what happened. The last thing on my mind was oh God I am going to fall down now and I cant stop it.

the proof:
The aftermath: Wounds all over. Thanks to the Aloe Vera my wounds are now completely healed.
Here are some things you can do during these days.
1. Plant. and water them. Useful water can be waste water from your laundry. They serve as supplement to plants like Banana and Kangkong which are very water dependent. Aside that theses plants provide food, they provide oxygen. Start planting a garden will save you time from going to the market and money.
2. Wash your dishes outside. It is simple, used water from washing your dishes and kitchen wares can be used for sprinkling on your front yard or back yard too. Get the land hydrated. To keep water from circulating.
3. Look ridiculous and wear sunglasses while doing the laundry. PROTECT your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun or do the laundry while its not too sunny. I do my laundry in the afternoon, just when the sunshine is at its low point at about 4 or 5 pm.
That's about it. Don't forget to stay hydrated and when it's sunny better take shade, lucky us there are trees and cool fresh air from the yard.
But still, we take precautions. The hard part of the days are when we can't go out to buy food, so when the afternoon strikes we hoard and buy at the nearby market. It's also good to eat healthy and maintain it.
Start wearing loose pieces of clothes are a great help too.
Climate change is real guys. Stay educated and ready against the summer heat.
Conserve Energy and WATER!

3 Things: The "then" Working Nanay that was Me

March 27, 2016

Happy Easter All! It's been ridiculously 3 months since I left my day job. And boy oh boy I miss the things I loved at work.

my work station. i miss the pics on my shelf too
First off, you might be wondering about why these 3-thingy, I'd like to showcase a list of three things I find amusing, useful or memorable for the week, day or anytime of my freaking awesome life (just kidding) but yeah, 3 things to remember maybe on this blog. So, off the sail I go and start with this random shots from work.

I've said this over and over that it is been my decision to leave my job and be a stay-at-home mom or maybe in a couple of months be a work-at-home mom, but one can't deny the perks of working in an office aside from the comfy chairs and cool aircon (hehe)

I really love to dress up and put on makeup. So there, I miss my (1.) freaking lipsticks! and maybe my cubicle but really they are the lipsticks in there girl. I know!(I don't know where they are now since this photo was taken like over a year ago). If you are a working mom like me who spends most time in front of a PC, it's my way of bringing life to my pale look. so hashtag lipstick, hashtag LOTD (lipstick of the day) was my thing way back then. lol! I guess, it was my weapon of confidence that I only stopped putting it on when I had my second baby.

i love this scarves to death. i got them at a thrift store here in Cebu

I suddenly miss wearing scarves, of course I can't wear (2.) scarves at home. It's a tropical country and most of the time it's 36 to 39 degrees Celsius from where I live. So, slash the scarves. I remember they were my sort of armor against the cold Conference Rooms, Training Rooms or whatever-rooms include the whatever-corporate situations you find me in. They are there. but not most of the time. Aside that they are comfort, they are a statement. I never knew dressing up was my thing before. I just was simply influenced but I miss wearing them on.

the coffee by the boss. some perks from working

Working is never complete without a shot of hot or cold (3.) Coffee, it just perks you up.

There are a lot of things to miss especially the trainings from which  I can only get from my very awesome day job. I have the best boss and job which I really love I just don't miss these things though: office politics, the toxic co-workers, tight deadlines and missed accuracy or call-outs.

There is always a bad in the good and good in the bad. We just have to learn to live the hell out of it to just SURVIVE. There are a lot of realizations yes. I guess I'll have another chance to do that in my next 3-things-post.

Life Lately and Welcoming Baby Ami!

February 6, 2016

Hi there!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin After a long hiatus, I am finally writing again, on my husband's laptop.
It's been a long time since my last updated post, so yeah I have got a lot of things to talk about but I'll just let this moment sink in first off.

If you guys noticed, I left my day job and now focusing on my two little ones.
Mind you it was not an easy transition.
I left my job without much savings cause yeah most of my money went to my maternity expenses. The hubby also was not at ease at first and we had a few adjustments made on the first few days.

The whole 3rd week of December last year was a bit of a relaxation moment, I can say that at last after many years I can take this time off from the bustling busy corporate world to focus on myself being a breadwinner for almost five years, [ thanks to my sister and brother who have taken that responsibility as I am already married and having my own little family to feed and care for.]

So what have I been doing lately?
I have a lot of time now which is a good thing but the downside to it is sometimes, I don't know what to do with the time. Aside from watching and replaying Pia Wurtzbachs' videos on the winning the Miss Universe, I stare blankly at the walls. just kidding. I do some planning now which is more effective especially with the growing awesome community of creative planners here in the PH.

How do I keep up with blogging?
Not much, actually with the new baby it's challenging with the changing baby schedules. Having a personal journal actually helps. There are a lot of really awesome journal enthusiasts out there too but I personally like Mich of Seaweed Kisses. Visit her blog for some journaling ideas and inspirations.

How do I see the year ahead? Your Plans?
I have a lot in mind but there is one thing I really want to focus on, which is of course my kids Adi and Baby Ami. I also plan to take this year as a learn-something-new year, Hopefully to hone my skills in crafting if not in creating some awesome dishes for my family. Running a small business and also still making time for blogging.

And oh yeah, by the way, say hello to my Cutie Patootie.. Ami =)

She's sleeping but More updates soonest, I will have to doze myself off....
If you are on instagram please follow me @shesgraz..

Thanks and have a great weekend!

My God Speaks to Me: Why I should read the Bible

October 23, 2014

Mommies!
photo taken during my stay at Creekside Hotel in Makati

This is my new series here in Yo Momma. God Speaks to me.
I have been living on Earth for already 28 years to be exact, and I am raised by Catholic Parents.
Being in Cebu my whole life has been a blessing, I would like to call it.

Cebuanos are very religious people.
We go to church on Sundays, and celebrate fiestas of our Patron Saints. Evident in those is the Sinulog,
the grandest festival in the Philippines.

Being a Cebuano always reflects being a good Christian , following Christ teachings and being able to show it to others. Being able to share it with the rest of the world.

As a working mom, I often feel the need to hear God's words. I feel the need to reflect and heed his purpose for me. I am not a perfect person. If I tell you all the mistakes I have committed, It would sure take up most of your time reading and perhaps doing it on another blog.

When we seek to enjoy communion with the Lord — and not to be led astray by the ambiguities of religious experience — we read the Bible. From Genesis to Revelation, God’s words and God’s deeds reveal God himself for our knowledge and our enjoyment. Of course, it is possible to read the Bible without enjoying communion with God. We must seek to understand the Bible’s meaning, and we must pause to contemplate what we understand and, by the Spirit, to feel and express the appropriate response of the heart.
God communicates with us in many ways through the Bible and seeks the response of our communion with him.
  • If God indicts us (2 Cor. 7:8–10), we respond to him with sorrow and repentance.
  • If he commends us (Ps. 18:19–20), we respond to him with humble gratitude and joy.
  • If he commands us to do something (Matt. 28:19–20), we look to him for strength and resolve to obey with his help.
  • If he makes a promise (Heb. 13:5–6), we marvel at his grace and trust him to do what he says.
  • If he warns us of some danger (Luke 21:34), we take him seriously and watch with a thankful sense of his presence and protection.
  • If he describes something about himself (Isa. 46:9–11), his Son (Mark 1:11), or his Holy Spirit (John 16:13–14), we affirm it and admire it and pray for clearer eyes to see and enjoy his greatness and beauty.2
Reading the Bible from cover to cover in 2013 is a noble goal. And it’s a goal that positions us well to commune with God. Keep communion as your aim, and remember the words of Scripture are there for us to know God’s heart, to commune with the Living Christ, and to respond appropriately to his beauty and to his voice.
Bible reading is meant to deepen our personal relationship with Christ. http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/why-we-read-the-bible

Has God spoken to you today? Tell me your thoughts.

Stay Blessed mommsies!

Dressing My Truth

August 29, 2014

My type 3 outfit - After i discovered my tru self

before i discovered i was a Type 3
Just as so you may know, there are 4 types of people. Definitely not the thing to be confused of but we all show those 4. But one of those is the dominant one and its certainly the thing that holds true to our being human.

That we all are made of these 4 elements and we unconsciously exude them in our traits, behavior, thought process and our physical appearances.

I am so glad to be able to share it to all of you too. I would like to know your thought about the two photos above. I guess, you would definitely go for the first one. =)

That's my type and the below image is not so my type, I look so masculine instead of looking feminine in that floral skirt. Definitely the black colored top also does not suite me.

I will talk about more of it very soon, how this profiling has really helped me understand my being me.

For more info, you can also head out to http://thecarolblog.com to know more about what I am talking about.

For now, let's bask in the sunshine and head out to the beach???

Ciao!

Nesting for the Family

May 19, 2014

It's here.
I am finally blogging about the dream.
A dream of having my own home. with the family. with my family to be.

Allen and I had Adi two years ago. We were not married.
And we had our fair share of struggles. But we have overcome those challenges. Our love against the odds.

having a home, where we can call our own is our dream. every new family's dream.
We are now one of them. I have grown in not so well off family here in the Philippines.

We had a simple house but the lot was not ours. We rented for it. For 27 years now. same age as me.
We rented it for PHP300 pesos a month.

Well, to cut the story short, Allen and I decided to acquire a Lot near our place. In Consolacion, Cebu.
It is still under development and it's cheaper now compared to buying a furnished house and lot.

We cannot afford one so we opted for a lot. a 100-sq m lot.
payable for 5 years.

I mean it is but a great deal. i payed for the reservation and the equity. I am glad that Allen helped me out as well.

We may have meager ways of living but this will be our long term goal.
We are on our Sixth month and it'll be four years and six months more to go before we can finally call the Lot our own.

We are excited and we will do everything we can to reach that goal.

Crossing my fingers!
To God be the Glory.

P.S.

I was lucky enough to know a very good broker.
You can avail of their service as well here.

Dear Me: Letter to the 16 year old Me

May 4, 2014

If you had the opportunity to write to your 16-year-old self, what would you say?

Dear 16 year old Gracina,

I know what you are thinking right at this very moment.
Hmm... I don't even know what to say to you anymore
since you're thinking that you know everything already.

Yes, you are at the Senior year of your highschool life.. yet you are still so
full of dreams and aspirations for the future yet to come.
Well hey! Don't you worry for I have seen the future!
I am here. Smiling as I look over you.

High school life is never easy.
But holds a vital part of your life as you grow and become what you
ought to be...

Thinking about college and the trailing battles ahead is overwhelming.
Don't think too hard!
Think happy thoughts.
Your journal says it all. ^-^

How much you like to take unto having relationships.
Don't rush.
But think about the joy of having to wait for Mr. Right.

What you think about life is not the way it will turn out.
Your heart is vulnerable and not everyone will like you.

Always remember that everyone is gonna hurt you.
You just have to know who is worth all the pain.

Follow your heart and let it guide you.
Trust in the Lord, He will provide and lift you up.

Being a good daughter comes with all sacrifices.
Be the best and never ever give up.

Be the strong person that you should be,
cause everyone is going to depend and look up to you.

Be the greatest big sister that your siblings are going to have.
Although, when you fall be sure to always Learn and Discern.

Love yourself.

As much as i love you.

P.S - just wait till you see your adorable cute lil son's dimples!

Always and forever,

28 year old (chubby face) self - Gracina

Becoming Active

April 30, 2014

It is here... the time has come for me and my son to once again explore this crazy world of ours!

Being a working momma for me is very EXCITING and CHALLENGING at the same time.

Exciting in a way that I get to catch every single moment of Baby Adi's growin up moments.
Well, here is me wishing on a STAR.

I know for sure that I will never ever have that moment,

( not until I quit my 9.6 hours day job)

Well Baby, momma's not gonna give up yet!

So to more challenges with you, cheers!

More moments to capture and more determination to store....

getting giddy up every morning strollin with
his pretty equally adorable cousin Therese =)
ans just when you thought that you can keep up..
Climbing on the table when I was watching a TV program.
Ang Kulit!!!

Son, there will always be memories like this in my heart.

In my mind and in my tired bod... It's quite tiring to try to keep you behaved and tamed.

But that is just what you are - a pretty little hyper active baby boy indeed!

Thanks for showing me the strength and perseverance i never knew i had in me.

Love lots,

Mami

#HolyWeek2014

April 23, 2014

Hi Mommsies!!!

How was your holy week!
As for our family, we spent the rest of the week in our house in Mandaue City here in Cebu.

I spent time with my son, had chit chats with my mom, sister and aunt Cora.
I guess that should be the most treasured moment of my work life since I get to spend the long weekend with them.

Have you noticed that most of the people are dying to go out and soak on the water? I have read a lot of vacay posts lately be it on instagram, fellow bloggers and some of my "wealthy" facebook friends.

Well, good for them -- they get to spend it splunging on the water. I can't question that action since as you may know, it is SUMMER indeed now in the Philippine Islands.

What can I say? Right?

It is Super Duper HOT!!

The sun is up all the while and I, my partner A and Adi stayed just at our little nest.

Here's what I posted via IG:

Adi with Aunt Cora and Uncle Andres having lunch.. =)

I was still thankful that even if I wasn't able to attend mass and confession, I was able to reflect.
Here's what the Lord is telling me as I read His Words from the Bible: (the Book of Ecclesiastes)

2:17 So I hated life, because the work that is worked under the sun was grievous to me; for all is vanity and a chasing after wind. 2:18 I hated all my labor in which I labored under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who comes after me. 2:19 Who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will have rule over all of my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.
2:20 Therefore I began to cause my heart to despair concerning all the labor in which I had labored under the sun. 2:21 For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, with knowledge, and with skillfulness; yet he shall leave it for his portion to a man who has not labored for it. This also is vanity and a great evil. 2:22 For what has a man of all his labor, and of the striving of his heart, in which he labors under the sun? 2:23 For all his days are sorrows, and his travail is grief; yes, even in the night his heart takes no rest. This also is vanity. 2:24 There is nothing better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and make his soul enjoy good in his labor. This also I saw, that it is from the hand of God. 2:25 For who can eat, or who can have enjoyment, more than I? 2:26 For to the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy; but to the sinner he gives travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him who pleases God. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.
5:1 Guard your steps when you go to God’s house; for to draw near to listen is better than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they don’t know that they do evil. 5:2 Don’t be rash with your mouth, and don’t let your heart be hasty to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven, and you on earth. Therefore let your words be few. 5:3 For as a dream comes with a multitude of cares, so a fool’s speech with a multitude of words. 5:4 When you vow a vow to God, don’t defer to pay it; for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay that which you vow. 5:5 It is better that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay. 5:6 Don’t allow your mouth to lead you into sin. Don’t protest before the messenger that this was a mistake. Why should God be angry at your voice, and destroy the work of your hands? 5:7 For in the multitude of dreams there are vanities, as well as in many words: but you must fear God.
5:8 If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, don’t marvel at the matter: for one official is eyed by a higher one; and there are officials over them. 5:9 Moreover the profit of the earth is for all. The king profits from the field.5:10 He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase: this also is vanity. 5:11 When goods increase, those who eat them are increased; and what advantage is there to its owner, except to feast on them with his eyes?
5:12 The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eats little or much; but the abundance of the rich will not allow him to sleep.

Thanks for reading!
And God Bless us always!
Hope you too had a way better Holy Week =)
